Avoid port tunnel on Maps

Have a minor Google maps issue.

I often come down the M1 headed for different parts of Dublin.

If it's a high toll time I obviously want to avoid the Port Tunnel.

The obvious thing to do is hit "Avoid Tolls".

But often the quickest may then be to go around the M50 (and over the Toll bridge).

Is there a way of doing this?

Does another App sort it? Waze or one of these?

Learn Dublin ? Once you know a handful of routes you can pretty much go anywhere.

Put in a waypoint somewhere before you leave?

    So instead of this: https://goo.gl/maps/2d13CkzqGjt8X1D28

Doesn't Google maps use live traffic data to give ETAs and give you routes based on shorter time?

    Yes

So say I'm on the way to somewhere like the trinity for 9am. No tunnel.

    So best is old n1.

But maps is sending me for the tunnel.

Hit avoid tolls. Route is now n1.

Now say there's a pile of traffic on Northside. Crash or whatever.

Wasn't there when I left home and initially picked route.

Best route might be n4 and in the quays.

    Maps still sending me n1.

The button with the split arrows gives you the different route options and how much longer they take. Not always great until you can get to a point where the tunnel is no longer there default option. E.g heading for m50 and options like ballymun or n4 present themselves. I have a similar predicament a lot of the time.

I find that Google is very accurate. There's times where I'm almost late for work and I never get there any quicker than what it says no matter what.

A few times I've ignored it taking me on mad routes when I've been on routes I know well or using the M50 and I've ended up in horrific traffic. Sometimes when it says traffic is bad (orange/red) it's not actually that bad when you get to that point.
