What are the role of Expert trust?

There are many ways that people can go about their lives. One way is by following the knowledge that has been accumulated over thousands of years through generations of experts, each generation building on the knowledge of previous ones. Another way is to learn by trial and error, using one's own experience to determine what works or doesn't work in different situations. You may have noticed that most people use a combination of the two: in some situations it is important to be able to rely on what others tell you and in other situations it is necessary to rely only on yourself.

The reason we trust experts lies in scientific studies which show that we consider them more reliable than non-experts for many different reasons. Non-experts give us advice based on their own personal experience, while experts have more knowledge and a better understanding of the subject. Also, they are not affected by emotions such as fear or sadness in the same way that non-experts can be when they consider their decisions carefully. Another reason we trust experts is because we acknowledge that they spend a great deal of time studying their field in order to learn how to do what they do well.
