    Hi,

I'm trying to replace my fan element. The problem is the screws holding the element in place are like nails rather than flat head or Philips screws. How do you remove these?

Are they rivets perhaps, is so you'll need to drill out. Soft aluminum usually so should be easy even by hand.

Have you a pic as that will give much more informed answers rather than guesswork as per above.

Thanks. The bind rivets that are firmly clasped in to hold up the element.

Any chance of a photo or exact model number?

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

    It's a Belling 294SS build in oven

Looking at that element I'd say it's bolted in from the rear of the oven, so you'll have to come at it from the back.

Would it be hard to move out if it's fitted in a space?

It should just slide out with a good pull, if you have something close to leave it on it'll be easier if it's high. The wiring should have a bit of slack from installation.

I'm near certain that you will have to access the rear too.

Are the screws not hex shape (they are in my classic 90)

Look on YouTube, you'll probably find a video instruction.

    Hi,

You have to get at the back, what you see are weld studs on the element and there is a nut on the back.

remove oven form unit, take off back carefully and you will see the back of the element, remove wires first they remove the nuts holding the element in place.

The problem is Mick I tried to use pliers to get the element disconnected from the wires and I can't. They won't come off.

They shouldn't be that tight onto it, normally it's just spade connectors onto the element. If you grab them in the wrong place with a pliers you'll tighten them onto the element, try catching them at the end where the wire is crimped in place and pull hard.

Cheers. I tried that but it's stubborn and I would be afraid Id damage the connection.
