Fallen leaves and a new hedge

    Hi

I put down a beech hedge earlier this year and the plants are about 2-3 foot now. I also have a lot of other trees in the garden that shed a lot of leaves. Just wondering if I can layer these leaves around the base of the new hedge or would they rot the stem of the beech?

You could use them but best to mulch them with the mower first rather than lay down a layer of whole leaves.
