My son moved to Canada last year. he had a full Irish license which he had to exchange for a Canadian license. he is still a named driver on my insurance. He is coming home on holidays this Christmas. Will i need to inform my insurance company that he has now got a Canadian license instead of an Irish licence as he will be using my car whilst he is here.

Is the car a manual or an automatic? As far as I know the Canadian licence only covers as direct swap for an automatic Irish restricted Irish licence so he would not be licenced to drive a manual car here with that licence.

You would be advised to tell them he now has an exchange Canadian licence.
