Help with adding water to rads.

Rads upstairs are only heating the bottom and little to no air is coming out. I think it's a case of water needed to be added. After digging about this I'm reading that some houses have flexible hose to allow water in with a pressure gauge.

Pictured is what I think my system is but I can't figure out how to add water.

The pictured gauge has cold water feed on the left and goes to the oil boiler on the right.

    Any help is appreciated

There should be a knob on the bottom side of that unit with the gauge. Open it until that gauge reads 1 bar.

There might be a valve previous to that that needs to be open.

Those auto fill valves are often fitted to cover up for leaks by continuously adding water, which is a recipe for big trouble down the line.

Had the same issue two weeks ago, well was ongoing. Had to replace the filler valve, and in the process found out there was no expansion tank on the system!

Try turning the bottom valve with grips until the pressure brings the dial to two then shut off, worked for me me for 8 years.

I'm not a professional btw, you tube diy.

Hey just tried this and no luck. The top of the valve has a plastic screw top with a spring underneath.

I turned the metal valve but no sound of water moving and no change on gauge.

I turned the metal peice at the bottom but no sound of water moving and no change on gauge. The flexible pipe on the left connects to the main cold water in. No other levers on the line.

With the automatic feeder open, give it a few taps of a screwdriver handle (dont break anything). If that doesnt work, the valve probably needs changing, but it could be something else that we cant diagnose from this remove.
