the electrical guys have wired the ethernet cable all around the house.

    next step is to

    • identify all the wires - which wire to which room
    • connect all the wires to a switch and router and modem.
    • install a ubiquity AP on the ceiling
    • what i need for this is:
    • network switch - may be 24port? any suggestions on the brand/model?
    • AP - decided on ubiquity AP
    • something to power those AP - PoE adapter - not sure yet

is it possible to find a networking guy who can do the setup?

is it possible to find which wire belongs to which room at the router point?

All wires from rooms should end up in on place (comms designated area) so here you either introduce patch panel or you can crimp every end ready for switch.

Switch size will depend on many wires you got + one for router + might be few extra for expantion (NAS box, etc) 24! - how many rooms you have? But yeah, why not... :D

Crimping or punching need to be accurate - nothing to complex, G search will give you 101 video how-to, or ask sparky to do that for you - most of them can.

~€10 test tool from Azm/Eb will help you to identify wire-to-room, but same can be done with laptop once switch and router connected. Or get tool kit for ~€25 if willing to crimp yourself

If you share your thereabout location some one here might help you out

Ubi AP's can run on PeO - consider before purchasing switch - less mess with power supply wires.

To be verified, but once you buy single unit it might be kitted with power brick. Bundlet Ubi AP's (x3, x5) do not have "bricks" in the kit

great piece of advice thanks a mill.

yes they will all end up in one point.

i hope to have virgin media cable from outside to meet there too.

i am not good in the do it yourself work..but will try before once.

i am based in dublin (lucan) so will search for networking guys around the area.

i dont understand your last point - do not have bricks in it

i plan to have 2 ubiquiti AP - probably this one

"brick" is called power adapter or in case of Ubi power injector. As per description in your link, there is non in the kit - means you get unit but wont be able to use it !!!

Shop on Amz - you can have switch with PoE. You only need 2 PoE capable ports for now, so i would suggest to get standard switch for ALL yor network + additional small 5 port (x4 PoE) switch for your Ubi

Or alternatively, get Ubi that is comming with PoE injector

I am not advertising any seller or brand - just pointing, so shop for yourself

Dont do your crimping training exersises on your live network cables - if you cut theem short you might face serious problems
