Firebird Oil Burner not firing.

The burner makes a sound like the normal effort to start to start but is not catching/starting/firing. It does not click off, I have to switch it off at the control panel in the house. I pressed the reset button twice. Just before switching on the heating each time. Didn't want to press restart too many times.

    Any suggestions welcome.

See if you have a dirty photo cell

The photo cell is always my first check too. If you're unfamiliar what it is, it is usually incased in a plastic/rubber 'tube' which can be pulled out of the boiler burner. The photocell is at the top of the tube and is about the size of your little fingernail. If it is black, give it a wipe.

could be a dirty or faulty photocell

if its dirty you need to get the issue sorted just cleaning the cell is causing a lot if soot etc to build up in the boiler
