I think its ridiculous ,youtube is now asking me to use 2fa to login, eg i put in my password ,now it says use 2fa pin no sent to your phone. i think it makes sense for gmail ,they want to increase security. but i just want to watch a few videos .now ,ill have turn on my phone and read a txt pin no from google.i read they are rolling out 2fa logins to all youtube users .i have,nt tried it on my phone yet ,i hope my phone just has youtube ,as normal, no login needed

i wonder is this necessary since youtube has a billion users .i understand 2fa is an important security option since many people have bank accounts and work user status connected to their email account .

should 2factor login be forced on all youtube users who just want to watch a video ?

But isnt it "once off" authentication for trusted devices.

Can only be a good thing - get rid of all the scammers and bots posting comments, stealing accounts and crap

I think it would be nice if Google allowed a separate login password for Gmail and YouTube , enable 2fa on Gmail let 2fa be optional on YouTube

I don't need 2fa on YouTube I just like to watch videos I don't make content

Alot of pro youtubers are recieving fake emails dms asking em to download a file that contains malware it takes the account logins etc so the hacker can play scam videos on a real YouTube account about cryptocoin schemes

Who is driving the requirement for this? I wasn't aware of any Irish regulations coming in.

There aren't any, it's just basic common sense.

There's nothing stopping you creating a second Google account just for YouTube use, it doesn't even have to have Gmail.

As far i can see it only apply to content producers("studio" and "content manager"), for now anyway.

I clicked don't ask for 2fa on this device, my pc no longer asks for 2fa every time I log in to YouTube. If it happens again I'll make a new YouTube account
