Just read that he died and thought i'd make a thread for him as he was in some well known movies and TV shows like Quantum Leap, Dune, Blue Velvet, and Battlestar Galactica. He died of natural causes at 85.

I thought he was a very talented and underrated actor. I don't think I've ever hated a performance of his. I especially enjoyed his work in Battlestar Galactica as the Cylon, John Cavil. He brought a real menace to that character that made him fun to watch in every scene. Rest in Peace Dean Stockwell.

He seemed to have had quite the life outside of acting too: part of the Topanga Canyon scene, it was his screenplay of the same name that inspired his good friend Neil Young's After the Gold Rush!

But I remember as a young kid watching Quantum Leap. And there was an episode at the end of Quantum Leap where the character "AL" (Dean) for the first time - after many seasons of helping "Sam" to change history - finally asked "Sam" to help him change history for his benefit. And "AL" needed help saving his wife.

I was so young in that moment when I watched that episode near the end of that series. But Dean Stockwell holds the title of the first actor who ever made me cry. Even as a kid.

I am sorry to hear of his death. But I thank him and love him for that moment of emotional awakening he gave me in that moment.
