Movies that rehash certain plot elements / themes

I thought this might be a fun little thread.

So I randomly watched a few scenes from Resident Evil there on Sky (First one, 2002) - not a bad movie, seen it many times. But [SPOILERS AHEAD if you havent seen it] at one point the special forces unit / commandos / whatever you want to call them try and go into the room that houses the computer AI called the red queen to destroy it. It's the whole lasers scene. So here's what I am talking about tho: the commander is killed as well as most of the team. Leaving the rest of the unit without a clear leader. Que Alice (Milla Jovovich) taking charge etc.

So... this got me thinking. Haven't we seen this before? ... Aliens (1986)! Marines get sent into a facility, half of them die, leader dies, Ripley (also a capable strong woman type character) takes charge. Horde of Aliens our heroes are up against while a horde of zombies in Resident Evil. Is that just me or am I mad? lol.
