How much to supply and replace electric shower?

I was quoted almost €600 for the supply and replacement of an electric shower (straightforward swap). When I looked up the brand of shower I was being quoted for, it cost about €280-€300 depending on where you bought it, which means the labour is coming in at almost €300. Would this be correct? I haven't a clue, but it seems high to me, but maybe this is standard?

Complete rip off. Go and buy the shower yourself. Ring another plumber and it cost you €80 to fit

What exactly is there now? What is the replacement?

Does seem a little severe if it is definitely a like for like swop. I suppose it depends on the part of the country.

Also, strictly speaking a registered electrical contractor is required to reconnect the new shower. Anyone else, including the homeowner commits an offence if they do so.

It depends on who you are asking. A lot of Dublin plumbers & electricians are booked up this side of Christmas. What sometimes happens there is they quote mad money for 6 to 10 small jobs between now & Christmas not really caring if they get any of the jobs. In Dublin right now you'ld be lucky to get a tradesman this side of christmas. Showers are all going up in price due to Brexit. Aqualisa Aquastream showers have gone up over €100 in the last few months alone. Some electricians will insist on rewiring your 6mm cable, back to to fuse board, with 10mm cable.

I would think anything around €400 or under a good price to supply & fit a straight swap. I'd run a mile anyone offering this for €80 labour though. Handy men & not so handymen charge more than that. That is €70 plus VAT. If that is all they are charging for a job where they could burn your home down if not done correctly then you can be sure that not only have they no qualifactions but no insurance either.
