Banging noise from solid range... but stops if pump is turned off

Hi guy's I have a different thread about banging coming from the Stanley superstar range, but I thought I'd make a fresh thread because could now be an issue that some of you can shed some light on.

Basically Stanley solid fuel range, making a banging noise while heating up, then once reaches very hot temp, the knocking/banging noise stops. This started around 1 year ago, but the banging would only last around 5 mins, but now it could last for 35 to 40 mins.

Last night while it was making the noise, I turned OFF the pump, and there was a noticeable noise from within the range, and the banging/knocking noise stopped totally. Then I could hear like the 'kettling' noise of water getting churned. Obviously I had to turn the pump back on, then the 'kettling/churning' noise stopped and the banging started again for the 35 mins or so.

Any suggestions ? boiler gone or theromstat ? New pump was installed around 1 month ago so 'hopefully not that giving grief....

    Cheers
