Hi folks. On gf Ford focus mk3 (2015) replaced set of wheels.

Got wheels, off scrap yard, repainted, got tpms sensors off aliexpress got new all season tyres, yestarday fitted in tyre shop, put wheels on car, and tpms system is quiet..

I drove 20 km. No hint of error. I thought new sensors need to be adapted to the car...

How often tpms module checks with tyre sensors? Should be at least once a minute. ??

    Thanks

My guess would be that sometimes aftermarket sensors wouldn't work, for sensors I'd always shell out for main dealer, I changed a coolant temp sensor on my partners Suzuki with an aftermarket part and it didn't work, bought the dealer part and it worked straight away no problem.

It could be unrelated to the part and I may be wrong, but that's what I would suggest looking at

I know, dealer stuff might be more efficient or better, if I would have money for that, I could go for dealers, but most of people these days struggling, and I am not exempt. I do understand things and if not, can find an info to learn it.

On original wheels one sensor we had replaced with dealers... Cost 80 euro. Ouch.

Got 4 sensors in aliexpress for 22.. Which was installed in tyre shop when installed tyres.

Actually it just happened while my missis driving home after harsh braking., message now stating tpms system needs service.

There is procedure to adapt sensors on car.

Pump all tyres to 45 psi, switch on ignition, hit hazard light 6 times within 5 seconds, car goes in to tpms training mode, then it shows message which tyre to be trained - usually start front left(discharge air till car honks once) , than front right, than rear right, and then rear left. If all tyres honked, than switch off ignition, get all tyres to pressure what it requires by manufacturer. Switch on ignition. Message should be gone.

But still actually strange it took that long time to realize that no native sensors around...

Because you did not bought from tyre shop the sensors, they do not need to program these for your car by free. Now find the guy who can program these to your car.

I brought only wheels and tyres on other car. Didn't brought the car.

There wouldn't be problem to pay if them would be able program it to it. Nobody does anything for free and I would not expect any service for free.

I am visiting garage only for tyre work or wheel alignment, all the rest works on cars doing myself.

If you visit all the time the same shop, they may to do it by little money. It is not complicated, only you need to bring the car with tyres, not only tyres. The better sensors is possible to overwrite but these cheap ones may not. Another thing is frequency. Do you know what frequency the car use?

Actually my question was - why system not register fault, as original wheels with sensors been removed. How often tpms check if there is sensor in place and tyre pressure is as set?

There was fault related to tpms system, which was cleared with car onboard system and no fault came back.

I was expecting that fault should be all time until new sensors trained.

It should transmit between 15-120 seconds, depends by manufacturer. Sure it detects the problem instantly, only it takes time to set the DTC.

Be prepared, you may not able to program these at all. That is bit .... market, most of the manufacturers encrypt their product and you can use only their tools to program it. This is the way how manufacturers secure their market.
