    Yes. If that is the total of the inheritance then it makes sense to give house to son. He will pay less tax and can always add his wife’s name to the property at a later date.

    It may be possible to give her a smaller share of the house?

    If there is more money or items of value he could give to the daughter in law up to the threshold if he wanted.

    That's good advise.......still, best to "use up" her full tax exempt threshold.
