Mygovid account creation troubles

My dad used his gmail address to create an mygovid account for his wife, because she isn't tech literate but its created a problem that he can't use that gmail account for his own mygovid ( he separately has a revenue account from the old unconnected system). He didn't realise that the account system is based on email address' as the username.

Mygovid says you can't change the email address once the account is set up, but you can create a new account with a different email address ( so I guess if my mother never does anything with the one the created under father email and her name then it should be ok to create a new one with gmail account I created for my mother?

To create an account for him, I tried doing the old trick of gmailaccount+x@gmail.com but mygoivid won't accept that. He doesn't have any other email accounts...

Do i suggest he set up another gmail account with autoforwarding to his current account...( does that ever fail? or is it slow)

He is worried that if doesn't use same email fro revenue and mygovid it could cause a problem

He's fed up already, the help system is overwhlemed...

Gmail is an odd one as it allows myaccount at gmail.com but my.account at gmail.com is seen as another account by most services but as far as gmail is concerned, it’s the same address.

as a test, send yourself a email to your normal account but add a dot somewhere. Might be the easiest workaround assuming gov account sees them as different.

I had similar problems with mygovid. I tried a lot of things- but gave up in the end. Waste of time. The HSE runs the same system- and I am out there as well.

I do everything via the phone or via snail mail now. Works for me. No frustration and time wasting since.

You can tell your local TD about the problem. Mention me ( and countless other folks) and the HSE as well. And ask him/her about the plan of Ireland becoming the E-hub of Europe. Mygovid and the HSE medical card system are just two samples of the massive digital failure this country is.

Don't get me talking about phone lines and internet speed or access...

using a dot in the email worked, I was close with + solution. So he signed up, verified and them it told him the mywelfare site was updating and not available.. :/
