Traffic to boards and the horse racing forum is very low but I think it is worth making this thread just in time for Down Royal.

    Proschema for the Stayers 33/1

Before he hacks up in Paddy Power 2.50 Cheltenham, and is slashed into 12s.. 😋 More than half the fun of AP betting is seeing one massively shorten - feels like a win early doors; before the disappointment of 'different targets' etc is mooted 😂

The look on Dan skelton’s face !

going with one of their outsiders today spiritofthegames (25/1) backed him in this last year and he ran a cracker. Poor old Harry’s confidence probably taken a knock with recent falls when the race at his mercy. Hopefully Bridget can get Sotg into a place.

have virgin media given up on racing coverage. They showed yesterday’s racing but today they have soap reruns and quiz shows instead. Or have they fallen out with itv again?

A plus tard looking good for gold cup

4/1 A Plus Tard for GC. Just an observation, as I saw it flash across the screen there. Won easy today, but Cheltenham another ball game.

Asterian Forlange will be my bet for the Gold Cup as soon as NRNB opens up. I think had them all bet only for the fall at the weekend.

His jumping has always let him down - will he get round at Cheltenham?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,199 ✭✭✭piplip87

That's the major worry. Hopefully he gets a clear round or two in before hand. There no doubting stamina or his engine.

He's out again in the 12.40 Cheltenham Saturday... takes on three, and none of them household names, in a Class 2 Novices' Chase over 2m. 4f. 127yds. Looks a case of how far he wins by, providing he jumps more fluently on his second go over larger obstacles.

Ya i was going to post the same, unlikely even to be on the boat to chelt never mind win a gold cup

    Galvin for the gold cup!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,625 ✭✭✭RivetingRoger

    Ferny (Arkle)

    Honeysuckle (CH)

    Allaho (Ryanair)

    €50 treble

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,199 ✭✭✭piplip87

Looked to have the jumping sorted for stages in Kempton but made a balls of one and landed on his hole. Serious engine though. When it clicks he will win big races but I do think the Gold Cup is out of reach.

Galvin put up a massive performance, A Plus Tard was slightly over hyped after beating a few glorified handicappers in the Tingle Creek.

Minella Indo got dragged into a battle with Frodon early on in the King George and ran out of steam, which is surprising as Blackmore is much better than that.

I'd wonder if we will see Bryony riding for Mullins a bit more going forward as she is basically family now 🤣

I presume you mean the betfair at haydock that plus tard won? Didn’t win the tingle creek

Adagio e/w for the Champion Hurdle @ 33/1. I reckon he's the best English horse (I wasn't impressed with Epatante).

Looking at the others ahead in the market - Appreciate It has an interrupted prep so Ill looks past him even though he romped in the Supreme. Sharjah exposed and not good enough to win. Abacadabras wont line up and doubt Saint Roi will either. Obviously Honeysuckle looks a certainty but its effectively 6.6/1 Adagio finishes 3rd which is a great price.

plenty has happened in the last few weeks,

the Supreme has 4 "machines" at the top of the market, it will be very interesting to see what way Nicky and willie go regarding sending one to the ballymore, personally, I don't think Nicky will split his two as he often runs a couple in the supreme, I think willies two are 2 milers so we'll see! Sir gerhard 7/1 could be the bet at the moment

The arkle looks likes its fernys to lose for now, the 2m novice chase at the DRF could be a cracker, hopefully we get a good field there, if ferny wins again he'll be odds on for chelt

The ballymore is wide open, i think stage star could be a welcome novice hurdle winner for the brits, I think Gordon should run ginto here but he might head to the potato race

I have no real antepost bet so far, hopefully the nrnb comes in soon

Having a closer look at the Marsh/turners/jlt...

Bob looks short at evens, he has a serious engine but he is not the most natural jumper. I'm going to take a stab at Venetias Lhomme Presse at 8/1, i think this is a very fair price. most of the horses quoted at the top of the betting wont even turn up. he'll be 7/2 on the day

Jungle Boogie @12's in the Turners for me. Can't see him going up against GDC so this looks the likely target.

    When are they going NRNB?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 402 ✭✭BurtMacklin

Hello everyone. Has anyone got any nice AP dockets up their sleeves? Are the regulars still on Telegram or what did I miss.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,495 ✭✭✭realdanbreen

    All waiting for nrnb.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 607 ✭✭✭famagusta

Looking at the National Hunt Chase, Run Wild Fred looks a great price around the 4/1 mark

If you go down through the betting and cross of the horses that are not qualified and cross off the bags of shite, there is very little left,

I know a few will get qualified in the coming weeks but Run Wild Fred is a Troytown winner, he bolted up, and he could go off 6/4 on the day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 607 ✭✭✭famagusta

Skybet gone NRNB from this morning , hopefully the others follow suit soon.

Interestingly, Skybet are also offering Antepost prices as well which is unusual to have both...

Cheltenham Festival Statistics | Gordon Elliott's record with handicap hurdlers

    By Adam Houghton

    10:30 · MON January 31, 2022

Adam Houghton reveals another key stat to keep in mind for the Cheltenham Festival.

    KEY STAT

£67.06 – Gordon Elliott’s profit to a £1 level stake at Betfair SP if backing every one of his runners in handicap hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival since 2017

There is a very strong case to be made that Gordon Elliott has made a more immediate impact at the Cheltenham Festival than any other National Hunt trainer in history.

After all, it was only in 2011 that Elliott saddled his first winner at the meeting – Chicago Grey in the National Hunt Chase – and a little over a decade later, he now sits sixth amongst the most successful trainers in the history of the Festival with 32 winners.

It’s worth comparing Elliott’s record with that of the men who sit above him in the rankings to demonstrate just how rapid his rise to the top has been.

For example, Willie Mullins is the leading all-time trainer at the Cheltenham Festival with 78 winners, but it wasn’t until 19 years after his first Festival winner – Tourist Attraction in the 1995 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – that he matched Elliott’s tally of 32.

Another stat worth looking at that produces big priced winners and has a good profit margin.Runners carrying between 11.8 & 11.10 in handicap hurdles at Cheltenham over the last 10 years have made a profit of 73.5 points.Thats 57 runners 8 winners @ 14%.Winners up to 33/1 but drew a blank last year.
