Hamco insert stove

Last year I purchased a 7kw Hamco 's' solid fuel insert stove and it never worked properly. It burns lots of fuel with no heat in return. I'm thinking of throwing it out and going back to an open fireplace.. has anyone else have these issues with a Hamco stove
