BMW extend warranty or not

Am coming to the end of my 'Approved warranty' and am debating whether to buy an 'extended warranty' for my 2018 118d. It is €296 for the year with €335 excess or €486 with zero excess. The car hasn't batted an eyelid since I bought it and Whatcar suggest they have become extremely reliable. I know there can be pricy failures that grab headlines but these are surely a rarity. Essentially it would cost €190 per year to insure against claims up to €335. I know sensors regularly fail but do I pony up the guts of €500 p/a for worry-free motoring or bank it for a sinking fund?

I think I would go ahead and buy the zero excess warranty. Even a very minor repair would easily eat your €486, plus the peace of mind would convince me too.

In the overall scheme of things, when you're running a BMW, Audi or Mercedes, €486 isn't too much for the added reassurance.
