    Might I suggest you use the webchat option with customer services, tell them, if you know, whether it is the strap or the black unit itself, what you have done to try troubleshoot/repair it.

    My experience is if it's not too old, they may ask you to return it and they replace it (with a refurb, I think)

    It cant hurt.

    Thanks Rob, i am up in Sligo, so ill try maybe swap out the battery and see. They only seem to last about a year for me before they go

    Halfords do an own brand one that works with them too. I found it actually better than the Garmin one FWIW.

    I bought 2 cheap straps for my one on Amazon for about 14 euro. I thought my original Garmin strap had broken as it felt like there was a kink in it. However when the new strap also went the same way I realised I needed to throw the straps in the washing machine. Which I did with the original Garmin one and one of the new ones, and they both started working again.

    Post all this reading the actual instructions (who does that 🙄) I think it advised washing the strap after 7 uses.
