So, have recently moved again, for what I can remember is the 27ish place I have lived in my life, I am mid 40s.

Everyone I work with thinks that's a lot of places to live! Tbh, I'm getting to the end of wanting to move.......

How many places have you lived afterhoursies??

20 houses before I settled down.

    5!

And one of those was accommodation that went with the job at the time.

And one stint abroad that was only ever temporary, so I don't count it as "lived".

Have you not met yourself coming back yet? I'd be dizzy with that many moves!

Currently in me 19th and (hopefully) final place.

EDIT: I suppose the grave will be the final one.

15 if you count boarding school and and a couple of months with in laws while we waited for our house purchase to go through. 9 of those were in the space of 12 years in Dublin!

Here 12 years now, probably have one more move in us but won't be till kids are grown up. I like where we live in the country side but my wife would like to be in a town which is strange as we grew up the other way round! I would like a smaller garden to maintain though!

Expected it to be more, but 16 in total.

    2 in my home county

    11 in 4 other counties

2 in 1 Foreign city (this includes temporary hotel for 8 weeks ish.)

35 places I'd have called 'home' at the time. Would hope/plan on adding at least 2 if not 3 more to that. 15 in Ireland, 20 overseas, in 10 countries.

13 different houses/apartments until I bought, renovated and settled. Education and work related.

15 in four countries - my numbers were pretty high till I was 30 years in my last house. Feel as if I could be permanent in this house (here 2 years) but may be another one before the final resting place.

Late 40's and not counting some places were I moved back to after living somewhere else or places I have stayed less than a month in.

    Have lived in 6 countries.

Edit forgot the 3 months back in Canada when I was 16.

2 in Ireland, since moving to NZ we have built and lived in 3 houses and lived in a further 5 rentals. So 10 all up, not counting anywhere I've stayed less than 1 month in.

Enjoy Albania Witchie! Hope you get to do some travelling around the Balkans, although weather will be starting to get wintery......

My first few days here in Saranda had glorious 20°+ sunny days. Yesterday and today am considering wearing socks and a cardigan. Dull, cold and a wee bit rainy since yesterday but still nice to sit on my balcony over looking the sea.

I hope to get some exploring done but as work flat out during the week it will only be possible at weekends.

Picture is my view of Corfu from my balcony.

Ah here - there's absolutely no need for that 😭

I've revised my residences up to 7, although I still think one of those is a stretch.

3 abroad in 2 different countries, 4 in Ireland.

Would like one more move here - to somewhere with a sea view.

I'm 47 years old and have lived in 12 different house/apartments/flats in 3 different countries. Various parts of Ireland, Barcelona Spain and New York City. I always thought that was quite a high number in comparison to others before I read this thread lol.

I was only at 4 until I was 18, with college, work and nightmare housemates had to move accomodation nearly every single year up until i was 29.

I'm only in this apartment 2.5 years, and this is the longest I've been in a place since I was 18. Hoping I get to stay here for a bit longer

Mine is increased because I went abroad for college and lived in 4 houses over 4 years although with the same people , as well as working the summer in different places. Also 2 houses when young. So about 9 by the time I graduated. 11 after that over 17 years until we bought.

I wonder is there an Urban Rural divide on this? I know some lads don't ever leave their town/city but many rural people have to move around for jobs etc.

I think it will be a mixed bunch - some people just don't travel.

18 and counting (the Celtic Tiger years in Dublin were absolute hell, 11 moves in the space of 4 and a half years).

    17 I think. 2 in Dublin, 1 Boston, 4 Brussels, 4 England, 3 Italy, 3 France

11 overall. 2 in Limerick with the parents, 1 in UK, 1 in Sligo and 7 in Dublin. I count myself so lucky that myself and the OH are out of the rental trap and we now have a place of our own.

4 and not moving again for a good while (actually in the middle of setting up 5yr fix re-mortgage)

While that does not appear to be many, it's 4* the number my old man has

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,076 ✭✭✭✭bnt

1 in Scotland, 3 in South Africa, 2 in London ... and 6 since I moved to Dublin, not including some temp. accommodation when I first moved here.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
