Noisy Plumbing Component When Toilet Flushed

Hi all Can anyone tell me what the small tank, high up on the LHS, is in my photo? And more importantly why it has started making a really loud banging noise for about 2 seconds whenever the upstairs toilets are flushed? We have had this pressurised system about 4 years now and the noise only started last night. Thanks

Hi all
