AVC PRSAs: ETFs, ITs, Shares

    Hi,

Has anyone any experience with AVC PRSAs? eg. as offered by Davys (not sure who else might offer?). Any gotchas with these? If I understand it correctly they are like a pension pot bolted on to your main employer occupational pension that you can use for your PRSA... Fees seem to be .75% per annum, but with access to ETFs and Investment Trusts etc., and no deemed disposal nonsense on ETFs. Custody charge is there also for non Irish securities at 0.06% + 25 euro flat charge, - which does seem hefty!

Sounds to me like a good alternative in terms of flexibility to contributing your AVCs to whatever your employer happens to provide? My main problem with my employer scheme is that transparency is limited; I would more trust simple ETFs etc. And also it seems like a way to get around deemed disposal albeit at a .75%. fee.

One downside is that if you leave your employer scheme the AVC PRSA goes with it and you need to set up another when you move employer, which seems like pointless hassle, but required by regulations.

    Any thoughts?
