    Hi,

I am just starting off and was wondering if I was as well off buying a cheap new set of clubs, something like Wilson x31 or looking for second hand?

Is there anywhere in the Kerry/Limerick region that people know that would have second hand sets? I'm not having much look finding them online.

    Thanks

The first thing to note is that the clubs won't make a huge difference in the beginning. You're better off investing in lessons and practising a lot to get the fundamentals down. Move on your beginner/old set in time if you get the bug for it.

As regards golf club sets. Occasionally the odd set appears on adverts which will probably be the best value but you might be waiting. I'd recommend going to your nearest driving range or Pro shop and asking what they have available within your budget. Getting a good relationship with the local golf pro is always a good idea. They'll look after you with discounts and lessons etc, plus you always have a B&M shop to deal with if you have issues. The X31 set is gone up in price, I got it for €350 last year but I don't see them under €400 now.

Some options for ordering online after a very quick search:

McGuirk's and Halpenny selection below (next day delivery):

Amazon for under €300 - new set similar to X31:

Try facebook market place, it's horrible to use but the prices seem to be a little cheaper than adverts and donedeal at times. Second hand clubs are crazy money still.

The Wilson carry bag set is perfect for beginning in fairness.
