Hi, looking for a bit of advice. A group of us have being using a school all weather pitch for a number of years and have being paying the local secondary school for its use. Last year we had to move our starting time by an hour (9pm start now) as the club that uses the pitch the most in the town requested more hours.

We have heard through the grapevine that they are now looking for our time slot again which will leave us homeless. We have no written agreement with the school but have been using the pitch for longer than this other club. Can they force us to move or do we have rights to stay in our allocated time as we have being paying for its use.

What makes you think you have a right to use it over other groups that the landowner chooses?

Do you have any kind of written agreement with the school? Exchange of letters? Emails? Anything?

OP, are you an actual team/club or just a bunch of lads and lassies who play ball for an hour or so?

Does your group have public liability insurance? I'm surprised that any school will let you use their facilities, TBH.

You have no more righhts than a regular customer has to a particular table in a restaurant, which is precisely nil.

the owners of the pitch usually have insurance .. which covers this. Individual groups don't need to have their own insurance
