Exterior windowsill paint chipping

We moved into our house, a new build last year. On all the exterior windowsills the paint is chipping off.

Aside from sanding and repainting is there anything I should be doing to help prevent the paint chipping off again?

    You need to seal it.

a good epoxy primer or latex primer.

A laytex based paint to final coat over it.

Did you use stabilising solution on the sill before you originally painted it? This is always recommended before painting concrete sills.

Builders painted it but clearly they took a shortcut because all the windowsills are chipped

Yes, every expense and effort spared to make it presentable and get off site.

As advised, seal it, prime it and paint it with your preferred finish. That should last a bit longer. you can check t'internet for painting concrete for more information and practical demonstrations.

Any brands you would recommend for sealer and primer?

A tub of white paint in woodies will cost 40 Euro and will keep them window sills painted for ten yrs. No need to knock the house down

Sand it all back to remove as much as possible of chipping paint. Dust off. Apply 1 coat of alkali resisting primer, dulux, usually thick enough in the can so thin out a bit with white spirit to make it useable. Then fill any uneven pieces with a smooth exterior filler, sand the filler, dust off and then apply two coats of weathershield. It should never peel off again if you follow those steps
