Berlingo car radio problem

Hi, Replaced stereo in Berlingo Van with brand new Berlingo Radio. New radio will not pick up external AUX nor can I use my iphone through it. My phone shows paired with the radio but no sound or ring tones. Any ideas what I am doing wrong???
