BIK exemption for electric scooter

Des anybody know if the BIK exemption for electric cars cover e scooters also? From what I read it just specifies electric vehicle. Thanks.

E-Scooters are currently illegal to use on a public road so no chance.

You could get an e-bike through the Bike To Work scheme.

As above, e-scooters aren't road legal in the first place, but the Tax and Duty Manual Part 05-01-01b (PDF), which specifies the BIK exemptions for electric vehicles has the following definition:

2 Definitions

2.1 Employer-provided vehicle

For the purposes of this manual, an employer-provided vehicle refers to all cars or vans made available to an employee by reason of his or her employment.

So "vehicle" is actually defined as a car or a van.

Even if BIK was applied the amount would be minuscule TBH, monthly over 3 years the cost of it would be €14 and you would only pay BIK on that so half again. It really isn't a factor at all

Unless you are looking to get a BMW C Evolution electric scooter (not sure if they even still sell them) from your company then I would not worry about BIK as the bennyineire has said. :)
