WANTED: light 20" bike

mini-dingbat has grown out of his Carrera Cosmos 14, which will be passed on to mini-mini-dingbat.

Looking for a light 20" bike.

8valve

Frog Bikes or Giant ARX would be good candidates for what you need.

Both are alu framed and built to last/be handed down to subsequent offspring.

Downside is eyewatering prices when new, for a childs bike (double/triple the equivalent Halfrauds/Smyths toystore pigiron items)

Worth keeping an eye on the usual secondhand websites.

Yeah cheers for that. Those brands (and Islabikes, Woom) seem to hold their value very well, but convincing Mrs dingbat of the initial outlay is proving awkward even though we'd be spinning it through a pair of mini-dingbats before selling it.

I will say that the Carrera Cosmos 14 has been superb. It's light, even though it's Halfords. Wouldn't touch anything else there, but I'd recommend that one.

I've got a couple of Frog 55s that I keep meaning to put up for sale - one green, one spotty. Both in good nick but the green one has a couple more scratches and more tyre wear. Based in south Dublin.

We had a 16" Carrera and are now onto a 20" - both aluminium frames and both have served us very well. Below is the one we have now - the cheap Halfords bikes are definitely best left alone.
