Can I remove a plug and wire in outdoor lights.

I have a set of outdoor lights that have a moulded plug on them (13A250v) that I would like to connect directly to the mains. I have an outdoor light switch with the cables sticking out of the wall (either the old light was removed or nothing was ever fitted). Is it possible to remove the plug (snip it off) and connect directly to the wires coming out of the wall? I’m assuming I will need an outdoor junction box to make everything weatherproof.

Thanks in advance for help and advice

Unlikely to work. You need a N&E feed to the first light, there might be one at the light switch but I doubt it, more likely a set of strappers.
