Is this sound normal? (2018 Rav4 Hybrid)

    Hi folks,

I bought a 2018 Rav4 hybrid 10 days ago. Overall very happy with it and getting used to different sounds (some of which are referenced in reviews).

But yesterday I started noticing a sound from the brakes and now it's all I can hear when driving it. I'm not sure if it was there from the start, and i'm only just noticing it, or if something has changed. It's not from 'slowing down' - it only happens when the car is brought to a halt. A loud clicking sound that's followed by a mechanism (which I imagine is the regen brakes). I got the mrs to take a video from the passenger seat - it seems to be coming from the front left of the car mainly.

Is this normal or is there an issue? The dealer is a good two hours drive away and I don't want to get there and be told that's totally normal for this kind of car.

    All advice gratefully received.

    THanks, Quad

Yes I get those strange mechanical clunky sounds when i stop my 2017 rav4 hybrid. Don't know what they are but the 18 months of ownership I've not had any issues relating to them. Presume it's normal.

You could always ring the dealer and ask them.

Prius makes a similar noise, I think it's the battery regeneration from the brakes.
