Wanted Road bike size 48 ish / XS

I'm broadening my search here if that's ok. The mrs is commuting on her good bike and it's distressing watching it come in the door covered in road grime. I don't fancy watching it slowly disintegrating over the coming months :(

Everyone on donedeal and adverts seems to think their 6 year old aluminium tiagra road bike, bought for 999 euro, is still worth 900 euro unfortunately.

Once again, a gentle prod to see what, if anything, the Boards families are tripping over in the shed / under the stairs that's gathering dust in a drop bar road bike (or cx). Budget is 500 to a grand.

I don't know anything about Fondriests I must say. Stick a pin in it a while and see what else surfaces.

I have a bike. It's an eddie Merckx alu frameset but with 10 speed ultegra di2, external battery. Have the charger and a spare battery holder that I picked up in case anything happened the one on the bike. Bike is in good nick. Full ultegra groupset on it, 6800, and has shorter 160 cranks. Has a set of zipp bars sl70 38cm. Carbon seat post too and can throw in a set back zipp alu post too. My wifes old bike, she planned to keep it to use in the winter but normally picks the turbo when it's wet out so has little use outside, even when it was her only bike she would do turbo over outside. Could let it go for 600 if that suited? Not exactly sure on size but she's 5''2 and has moved to an XS liv, so it's a small bike. Steerer is uncut too. No pedals with it but will throw in brand new bar tape. Not sure I still have all the bars or stems shown but would probably have a few spare.

Thanks Joey. That's a lovely little bike, it's cropped up on my searches several times. I discounted it for a winter slogger because of the Di2. Replacing parts or diagnosing issues could be a mare if it were to start acting up. For what it'll be used for I think simpler is better.

ive got one of this XS near to new condition needs a new fork though as within 3 days of buying the bike some idiot decided to vandalize the bike while parked in town buckled the the front wheel and hit the carbon fork with some hard object it left a mark, wasnt sure if it was structural of just superficial crack wasnt gonna leave it to chance as my wife was gonna use it so I enquired bout getting an original fork in decathlon but lockdown and coupled with supply delays and no guarantee of when im gonna get the fork ive just left it as she also has a good bike that she can use to go to work.

Decathlon quoted me 180 for a new fork, ive replaced the front wheel already

I presume you've seen my Genesis on Adverts? OK, it's over budget, only Apex and the wheels are crap but it's a really beautiful frameset!

I've an XS TCR Advanced Pro with Ultegra 6800 and a never ridden RS510 chainset 52 36 ( it's basically non series 5800 105 ) quite a unique colour as it was frameset only and I built it myself. Selling it with a set of akysiums. Never ridden bar tape. The frame took a tiny bang to the seat post approx mid way and it's been professionally repaired. Being honest it was just one side and was ridable but I wanted to have it right and rode it lots afterwards with no issues. Haven't had a chance to advertise it yet but I've attached an image of the frameset that it is. €999 takes it.

Genesis definitely too big Paul in afraid. An xs would be her size. We have an "S" equilibrium in the shed and it's too big for her. Otherwise she'd have been happy to commute away on it and this thread would never have been! :)

I have an 2007 Orbea Vuelta 48cm frame and forks, handlebar in a mates shed down the road. I stripped the groupset off years ago.

Should be a set of wheels also.

You'd have to do a build on the rest of it though. Wouldn't have a notion how to value it, but I'll get a few photos if you have any interest.

Did you get sorted on this, FB? I'll be talking to someone over the weekend who's had a brand new BTW road bike sitting in her hall for seven years! Tyres have never made contact with tarmac except when wheeling it in from the car.

I have a Focus Paralane I received in the wrong size just yesterday. Its a XS 48cm frame with wheels, tyres, pressfit BB, handlebars, bar tape, stem, saddle, seat post and mudguards. It was supposed to be an XL frame which I was going to build up. They shipped the wrong size and I am starting to get it sorted out but it may be of interest to you.

Having done a bit of research it appears to be a Cube Peleton Pro (possibly 2014 model), size 53cm, with 105/Tiagra mix, Fulcrum 7 wheels.

Don't be put off by the size. If you check it on geometry geeks it's actually more like a 49 being the second smallest of 7 sizes that range from 50cm to 64cm.

Jeez, I'm well out of touch if a bike with tiagra is asking that much.

Canyon released some really nice aluminum gravel bikes for 1500, might be a bit above budget but loads in stock and great value for money.

They're lovely alright, and that's certainly my logic - using Canyon as a yardstick.

1049 gets you a Canyon Endurace in Movistar colours and tiagra rim brakes - a super trainer, winter or summer, brand new, no messin'.

So the closer the 2nd hand bike gets to that, the less sense it makes.
