Subtitles gone from Channel 4 and related stations

I have a zGemma H7S. I noticed earlier this week that the channel 4 family of stations no longer have subtitles available. The subtitle menu only offers the 888 (non-satellite?) option, but it doesn't work.

There was a problem with BBC1 too, but that has resolved. Other stations don't seem to be affected.

This happened after the box froze one day and had to be rebooted (freezing happens every 5 to 6 weeks, but hasn't affected subtitles before).

I've done a rescan, but it hasn't fixed it.

    The box uses openViX.

    Any ideas, folks?

I noticed the same last night so it might be on their end.

Thanks Gerry, at least I know my box isn't acting up.

I read that there were problems with channel 4 earlier in the week and it went off the air for a couple of minutes one evening. Then people were complaining the sound was wonky on the bake off the other night which was said to be part of the same issue. I've noticed the epg is wrong all week so they must still be having problems.

C4 group stations are barely on-air at the moment due to damage in their outsourced playout centre. Some of their music stations are actually off-air and relaying another station just to keep their EPG position alive.

EPG info is either partially or fully wrong, sound is wonky on some shows - so I'd imagine the subtitle insert is broken too.

Red bee the transmission provider for BBC, ITV, Channel 4 channels, Channel 5 and the BBC world channels (Dave and the lot).

Had a fire in their office last week. They are all being ran from the disaster recovery sites at the moment. Unfortunately these are the basic services only.

BBC has moved to Manchester, ITV to Leeds and C4 to just outside London.

They have been cutting money from these sites for years but I think that's about to change.

It actually doesn't seem like it was a fire, but a fire suppression system deployment that may have caused a vacuum and then significant physical damage.

This would be easier to recover from than fire damage, but there are hideous shortages of nearly all computer equipment these days.

It went off for a reason 😉

On certain programs the picture quality has been very poor. Taskmaster , bake off , deadpool 2 , all had a milky washed out look , whereas the picture during the ad breaks was fine.
