Help - No hot water / radiators.

Just need some tips on what to check here.

Heating was turned on for the first time in many months, it worked fine for one day. Last night however I sent a request to boiler to turn on upstairs it fired up and then after 5-10 minutes cut out.

I checked the pressure to the system and it was very low like 0, so I was thinking maybe it cut off as no/low water circulation , so after fiddling with valve in hot pressI got it to 1.5 bar / heating off. So fired it up again. Same thing, 5-10 minutes and cut out, no discernable heat although boiler is firing and hot.

Im thinking the circulating pump might have gone? Any other ideas? Ive a multi meter if there is some resistance that can be measured?

The boiler is due replacement 14 years old and has a few pre-exisitng issues so if this is gone its ill bite the bullet as the burner has a dodgy bearing in fan and the burner nut can't be tightened meaning the burner isn't sealing and cuts out if door isnt left off. All in all its not in great shape.

Air lock is another potential issue?

Bleed the air out of the radiators if the pressure was zero then chances are there is air there. Check the pressure after bleeding it will drop

I checked the rads and there is water coming out when i turn the bleed.

I checked the circulating pump in the boiler. Its roasting hot and its leaking behind it. The inlet pipe is roasting (i suppose coming from the boiler) the one underneath not so much... It looks like this is the source of leak and has been leaking for a while looking at the calcification deposits...

Just to update in case anyone has similar problem. It was circulating pump at fault. There were two valves either side of it and could be isolated so turned them off and fitted a replacement which slotted in exactly into the space used some grips pressurised the system again. Used grips to tighten as leak was present. After that fired on heating and rads working again.

Easy fix. Took about 30 minutes.
