    Hi,

This lock has gotten a bit stiff lately so I'd like to open it up to clean and oil it:

I can remover the large lever handle with an allen key:

But I don't know how to remove the 'faceplate', I was expecting to be able to just lift it away from the wooden surface in the direction shown by the arrows but it wont move:

Should I be able to just lift this off or is there some ,mechanism holding it in place that I have to release ? I can't see any screws or anything but there are these slots on the top and the bottom, are these so that I can stick a screwdriver or something in and prise the faceplate away from the wooden surface or are they part of a mechanism holding it in place ?

So, does anyone know how to do this or indeed what this type of lock is called or where I could get a schematic explaining how to take it apart ?

    Thanks,

    Zozo

I don’t know for sure but my guess is that it is held in place with a flexible tang. Get a screwdriver and drop it into that slot between the tang and the cover. It should stop after a few mm. You can then press down firmly but not too hard and the cover can be pulled out. You should only need to depress the tang by a couple of mm.

This is just a guess on my part so you may wish to wait for someone who knows for sure.
