Buying from Yahoo Auctions Japan

Yahoo auctions out in Japan is an excellent spot for small bits and pieces for Japanese imported cars here in Ireland. After a quick Google it seems buying through 3rd party facilitators/importers is common enough to overcome the language barrier.

Has anyone any experience with buying stuff here? I've nothing massive in mind, say medium sized parcels worth €300-400 as an example. Any tips welcomed.

Bought items many times from Yahoo Auctions using ZenMarket and Neokyo, had very little problems with either. ZenMarket is the most reputable but Neokyo is a little bit cheaper per purchase (and also whatever they're doing with the customs declarations the last package made its way to me despite the absolute chaos with non-EU items coming in at the moment, so fair play to them for that.). Shipping it from Japan to Ireland still costs a LOT but thats to be expected. Whatever service you use check with them to make sure they allow you to purchase what you have in mind - I wouldn't have a clue about anything import car related so I can't say anything for sure on that but you should be fine. Good luck!

Before buying anything from Japan, check out the thread on refusal of non-EU packages. Japan is one that has been badly hit.

My daughter also buys regularly via neyokyo, however the site themselves are now only offering shipping via FedEx directly due to items being returned to them by An Post.

From past experience buying from Japan, a lot of the sellers will opt for couriers. DHL and in particular FedEx. Would certainly agree with the above poster, you have to be very careful buying outside the EU these days.
