Just got this from RobFowl but unfortunately the brakes don’t fit my bike so going to move it on. Ideally would like to get what I paid (275). Thanks

As a matter of interest, what is it about it that doesn't fit? Where's the incompatibility? Are disc frames so groupset specific?

My frame is flat mount. Hi Weepsie looked at that but don’t want to spend any more on the bike. I’ll accept your offer and can post if that suits. I’ll cover postage. Thanks

Sorry for the general questions, but which is the betamax and which is the VHS? Flat mount or post mount? And ditto for QR and through axle or whatever.

Not an expert by any means but Shimano seem to have moved to flat mount standard and lots of frame manufacturers seem to be going to thru axles. Having said that adapters are available to convert to most things but thru axle frames can’t be changed to QR and vice versa. QR wheels can be adapted to fit thru axle frames and wheels with 6 bolt rotors can be changed to thru axle. Only problem at the moment is shortage of spares. I’m open to contradiction on all of the above.

Can I go next in line on this? If it falls through for any reason. Thanks, Paul

I might be wrong but I thought it was easy to fit post mount brakes on a flat mount frame? It's the opposite that's difficult!

    Will do Paul

You can get conversion kits but they are frame specific and its easier to fit flat mounts on a post mount frame.

Re which is which (became an expert on this due to a previous project !)

Post mount is the MTB standard and when road frames initially started using discs they adopted this. Since then the have moved to flat mount and this is the industry standard for road now.

QR is traditional skewers where as thru axle is where the axle screws directly into the frame or forks. 12mm is the usual road standard while 15mm is the MTB standard. Don't get the 2 mixed up....
