Backed up contacts from phone to Google Drive some contacts now missing..help

I backed up my contacts from my phone memory to my Google Drive. ( Google Contacts).

Now I notice that some of the contacts I had saved are now gone, and were not saved to the Google Contacts.

Any solutions to fix the above?

Is it possible some were stored on the SIM and not on the phone, I've seen this happen before. You could resave on the source phone so that all the SIM numbers get backed up to the phone and then backup to Google Drive.

Im using the same phone ( Alcatel 1) and trying to back up contacts from SIM to google drive.

All I can see in my Contacts are those that backed up successfully from the SIM. Cant see the missing ones.

Think the problem happened after I 'merged duplicate contacts'.

Any way to retrieve the missing SIM contacts?

Would like an answer myself.Could some of the missing contacts be in your call logs or still on an older phone

No any contact in the call log that is now missing just has the number with no contact name.

There are about 4 missing since I merged the duplicate contacts.

Some numbers are saved in different apps or emails. My advice would be sign into all your email accounts and apps and check your contacts again.

The problem started when I synced the contacts from the sim card to the google account. I only have one gmail account associated with the phone and Could they be in the recycle bin of the desktop Google Contacts app?

Yes its possible - try it through Chrome and see if they are in the bin.
