black smoke from exhaust nissan juke

I've had black smoke from exhaust for a few weeks now. I thought it might go but it hasn't'. I'm gonna bring it to a mechanic in the morning. Has anybody any ideas what it might be from and or what cost may be? I've no idea and I don't want them to overcharge me because I'm clueless when it comes to car repairs. Thanks

When was the car last serviced? Any warning lights on the dash? Any loss of power?
