Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Garmin vs Treadmill stats - need a foot pod?

    Hey,

Running the last while on a treadmill and my Garmin is always off vs the treadmill stats. The Garmin does let me adjust to the correct distance at the end of the run, but that still means pace stats etc. are off during and after the run. Plus, the treadmill displays KM's which is very annoying to a hardcore miler like me. To remedy, do I need a foot pod thingy, like this?

    https://buy.garmin.com/en-IE/GB/p/561205/pn/010-12520-00

Want to be sure it's worth it before I buy.

    Thanks

Pretty much that's it. There used to be a cheaper version as I had one but probably only available second hand now - https://www.ebay.ie/itm/133877890454?hash=item1f2bbe7d96:g:aTgAAOSw99dhMpOc

The problem with running on a treadmill is that the belt slows down due to your force when you land and then speeds up to catch back up on pace when you are airborne, even though the display will remain constant.

I have found the Stryd foot pod (expensive) the best as you can calibrate and also run off power rather than pace.

But to be super accurate, you need to know the actual speed of your treadmill at a variety of paces, which means measuring the belt, counting revolutions, calibrating your watch, etc.

Or just run by perceived effort.
