Shower screen for wet room

Need a Username

There is too much water on my bathroom floor after I take a shower, regardless of how how long I take in it.

I can’t make any permanent changes or use screws or nails so I need some ideas for a shower screen (not ceiling to floor though) that will last a long time but doesn’t need to be stew or glue.

It sounds like your problem is with the way the floor is laid. First thing I'd try is really cheap and cheerful. Get one of those squeegee things the window cleaners use and 'scrape' the water into the drain. Put it on the end of a broom stick to save breaking your back bending down.

Probably not as convenient as a shower screen, but a damn sight cheaper, and no fixings required .

might do a better job.

The floor isn’t getting flooded but the amount of water at the end of a shower cannot be what what other people get in a wet room.

I had a shower a while ago and watch the amount that was building up on the floor and it wasn’t much. I stopped paying attention and two minutes later there was lot of water.

Here's another suggestion - perhaps the drain is not emptying quickly enough. If the water is covering the drain, and only going down slowly, it might be blocked. Happens in my shower tray a couple of times a year. In the short term, pour a load of neat bleach into it after the next use (after the water has drained away). See can you get your hands on a plunger and give the drain a good workout. The plunger is the the best bet, though.

The drain was indeed blocked when I first moved in. The water used to pour out the bathroom door. It was only after my second shower that I copped on the drain was blocked.

I check it once a week but I have not tried using a plunger.

I will get one.

You have to empty the drain. Hair will clog a drain on weeks. Plunger is useless for this purpose. You need to remove the top grill and stick a pipe winder in there. You may find however that most of the hair is just under the drain. So just try remove grill and remove hair you can see.

The drain should consistently be free flowing any back up on your floor means it's definitely blocked a bit.

Would a 'tension' shower rod with a curtain work for you? They're far from perfect as they can be prone to slipping/falling but if you can't make any permanent changes then it might be your best option
