Hi there, Im in a six month fixed term lease, which is due to expire this week. The landlord wants me to sign a lease extension for a further six months. Hi there,

What happens if I want to leave this lease in advance of the next six month expiry date, would I still be liable for the entire rent due for six months or can I simply serve notice and the lease ends?
Im very confused by the laws!

If you need to leave within the six months, you have to find somebody to replace you in your accommodation. If the landlord doesn’t want you to do that, then you can end the tenancy. See here: https://www.rtb.ie/ending-a-tenancy/ending-a-fixed-term-tenancy
