Lot of people say that they cannot through to our landline since we switched to Sky last year.

Anyone any ideas about low-cost landline-only rental options?

Alternatively, should I just get a basic mobile and leave it charging in the house 24/7

I'd agree with above - very little requirement for a landline these days. No-one I know has one except my mum - but she gets that free.

However all sky packages come with home phone as standard including keeping your own number. Contact them to get it fixed - probably is as simple as flicking a switch in the exchange box

Unfortunately, Sky are useless.
