Ive used ebay to get codes before but the vendors seem to be unsuccessful in getting code from Vodafone for this. How do i get this freed from their shackles and if not possible, how much credit do i need to purchase before Vodafone allow it

Usually brand new phones like this won't be carrier locked for the first few months, maybe try another sim to see if it's unlocked, never know you might be lucky.
