Joining PVC to ABS waste

    Hi all,

I am installing a wetroom shower and need to install a trap gully.

Currently there is a 2 inch uPvc waste pipe in the floor, so I will be connecting the gully to it.

Any of the gullyies I have found seem to be made from ABS plastic, probably because they are manufactured in the UK.

So my question is first of all, can I solvent weld the ABS gully to my PVC waste pipe. A search on Google says no.

I contacted the manufacturer for one of the gullies I was looking at (Impey). They came back and said I can but I'm not so sure now.

To all you plumbers out there, how do you normally make such a connection ?

If I can't solvent weld the joint, what other method can I use ?

I don't like to idea of a compression joint as it will be buried in screed.

    Thanks for any advice.
