hi lads. I have a K1 GSXR 750 with stripped sump threads. Anyone know where I can get this repaired. I've tried the major bike shops in Dublin but none of them are mad on doing the job. If anyone knows of a workshop that can sort this out for me could you please recommend.

    Thanks in advance.

If you remove it yourself any decent engineering shop could fit a helicoil insert surely?

Can the sump itself be removed separately on a motorcycle engine? I'd think the helicoil would be fitted with the engine (and sump) in situ.

As you say, most engineering shops should be capable.

    Not your ornery onager

sump can be removed and ideally should be so the helicoil goes in perpendicular to the sealing face (else the plug won’t seal)

If the sump comes off, I'd get a new boss welded in tbh.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

from a quick google of the part

It looked to me like the sump comes off so the busted thread would be in the crankcase would it not?

unless he is talking about the oil drain plug threads ?
