Aer Lingus Checked Baggage Costs At Airport

    Sorry if this has been asked recently but I went back a few pages and didn't see it.

    The Aer Lingus baggage policy seems to be more complicated (and expensive) than ever before. I'm aware of how the new carry-on policy works. But I just have a query about other baggage pricing.

    I want to add a single 20kg bag to my trip (no luggage attached to the ticket yet) and my booking was made over the phone due to it being an Aer Credit Card reward flight. So I can't add it online and get the online price. I've emailed the Aer Credit Card team about this but no response.

    Anyway, it takes 45 mins or so to get through to the normal customer service team to add a bag and it's like pulling teeth trying to get that done over the phone. The website seems to indicate that the fee for booking a bag over the phone at this point is the same for bringing it to the airport - "call centre" is €65 for a 20kg one way and "airport" is €65 for a 20kg bag one way. Am I reading that correctly? Just wondering as I could then just bring it with me without having the pain of dealing with the call centre. Does this pricing sound correct for checking a bag at the airport, and would anyone have experience of this?

    PS, I've seen it stated before on this forum, but unless you really work the system to earn your Avios, the Aer Credit Card thing is indeed more hassle than it's worth.
