    Hi All,

we are thinking about buying a property in The waterways, Sallins, Kildare. We did love the area and we are wondering if someone would have some advise, experience in the area!

    thanks,

It flooded massively in 2009 I think, would still be on Google. Double check you can get flood insurance before putting an offer on !!

Otherwise Sallins is a nice town, nice pubs and restaurants.

I'd still keep a lilo handy just in case you've to break for Naas.

I’m in Sallins over 15 years and that big flood in the waterways area of Sallins happened once. It was a major issue with blocked drains, and it was resolved and there’s been no problem since. At the time it was the newest part of Sallins and obviously some drains had not been sorted.

Never mind google. Take a trip out there and ask them in the local SuperValu in the waterways. They’ve been there since the waterways was built.

It was a blocked culvert under the railway line that got clogged up after a storm and the stream flooded back up through the drains at the back of the estate. Irish Rail have since widened that culvert and it should be fine now. You can see the culvert where it joins the canal if you walk along the canal bank towards Hazelhatch.

Hi in the same position here considering to buy in The Waterways. Anyone on here who lives there and managed to get flood insurance? If so with whom?

We absolutely love Sallins and really hope to join all of you lovely folks :-)
