Plumbing for washingmachine

    Hi all,

    I have an apartment where the washng machine is currently in the kitchen installed under the draining board. It is not a big kitchen and I am thinking of changing cabinets.

    Adjoining the kitchen is a small utility room which would accomodate a washing machine and a drier. However, I would need to adapt the plumbing. Cold water is not an issue as that comes in via the cieling space in the utility room. The back of the washing machine would be against the dividing wall to the kitchen. The distance from the new location to the current drain would be about 3m. It would pretty much be a straight line with the discharge line having to go behind or underneath the cabinets. If I go underneath the cabinets, the line passes through the dividing wall, then I would have the typical 10 or 12 cm height from floor to cabinet base to use for a drop across the 3m length. Would that be enough ?. If not then the discharge would need to pass through the wall at a higher level to get enough drop...but I don't think there will be space behind the cabinets (they will be flush against the wall) so I would need to run the discharge insdide the cabinets by cutting holes in the cabinet sides...which I don't like the thought of.

    Has anyone done something like this ?. Also...I assume that the discharge pipe needs to ba 1 1/2" diameter PVC ?
