Claiming VAT refund on wedding dress

    Hi everyone,

I am living in Switzerland and have found a dress in Ireland to purchase for our wedding next year. I believe it is possible to claim a VAT refund, would be great to hear from anyone that has been through this process before? What should I advise the vendor when making out the receipt? Is it a tedious process and any general tips?

    Thank you in advance,

    Kath

If you are collecting the dress yourself then VAT should be on your invoice. You won't be able to claim this back.

If you are having the dress delivered to you in Switzerland then there should be no VAT on your invoice but the shop will need to be EORI registered and fill out a customs declaration. You will then be liable for any Swiss taxes/duties on import.
